Dear Editor,

Thanks for your editorial yesterday about the economy. It was yet another timely reminder to our leaders about the need to be prudent. As for me, the only way out for Samoa from growing debt is: 

(1) Reduce government and increase business. Look around Apia. The only signs of success are the government buildings and all this is funded with borrowed money. The more successful businesses become the more employment and money going around Samoa. The more employment in government means all that money has to be borrowed to pay for their wages. It is not sustainable.

(2) Reduce the power and control of the P.M. Like an octopus his tight-gripping hands are everywhere in government. When the head is rotten all the arms are doing

rotten things.

(3) Make the education system and Medical care (hospitals) number one in the world. This will attract a lot of business (money) people to Samoa.

(4) Fix all the other problems as well - dogs, corruption, tourism, etc, etc.
