While Samoa parties up for the next two days, a family from Brazil will be joining the celebrations.

Carlos Ferreira is an air condition Technician who is here with his wife and daughter on a holiday and more importantly to celebrate his birthday.

“I have been in the Cook Islands and Fiji and other places and now I’m here in Samoa and I reckon this is the best place that I have been so far if I had to rate the three countries,” said Mr. Ferreira.

“My family and I are quite excited to be here during this time as we know tomorrow (today) is the celebration of Independence Day and then the game on Friday so we are looking forward to it.

“I on the other hand am super excited because it will be my birthday this Friday.”

The family has been in Samoa for three days.

“It has been great especially for my daughter she is just more excited to be here to experience the different culture as well as the island breeze.”

Mr. Ferreira went on to say that Samoa is unique because of its culture and its people.

“The people are so friendly,” he said.

“I mean when we went to town today we had people who said hello to us with a big smile on their faces.

“I mean with that simple smile it really lightens up our day and at home we don’t get that because people will just walk pass you and we became used to it, but here it’s so different and that’s the feeling that we will always cherish with us if we leave Samoa.

“As for the culture, it’s unexplainable.

“I mean it’s so different, your traditional wear, how you dance it’s just amazing and that is something we tourists would also want to learn in the next couple of the days that’s left of our vacation.”

Why Samoa?

“Well, we like to go to places that we have never been before especially around the Pacific Islands,” said Mr. Ferreira.

“So we planned this throughout the year and so we are here and it may be just a dot on the world map but it has captured our hearts in so many ways.

“I would definitely tell my friends about Samoa.

“They have to come and see this place and meet the people and I would definitely bring my family next year for another vacation.”
