Churches and politics in Samoa

Dear Editor,

Re: Obedience, law, truth and rubbish

Great letter and I hope all H.R.P.P. members are tuning in. One thing I should encourage faifeaus to do is that don’t distance yourselves from Samoan politics.

Jesus and the Apostles were always in dispute with religious people and lawmakers because of corruption, now is your moment because Samoa is being governed by leaders who are not making the right decisions.

Government corruption is rampant, if faifeaus are in the community for moral guidance and support, then it’s about time a Stephen or Paul confront these immoralities, 3 Timothy 5:20 As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear.

In the history of biblical Israel, God allow Israel’s enemies to destroy the nation because they fail to “obey” the Lord and righteous people who were delivering messages and guidance from the Lord.

If faifeaus have taken up the role of “messengers”, then I urge you to rebuke and confront these persistence corrupt government head on.

Our beloved country of Samoa is going through so many social issues and that can only be the consequences of bad leadership in the country. Proverb 29:2 When the righteous rule, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.

Jesus in the New Testament said the most important Commandment in the Bible is “Love the Lord with all thy heart and Love thy neighbor”.

Therefore “rebuke” should be viewed as an acceptable tool in fulfilling and achieving “obedience” to the messages of the Lord.

If we love our neighbors, we will confront this government so that they can stop hurting the people. If we love the Lord, then we will do it because that is the responsibility of all Christians. Like a lost lamb, we will save them instead of neglect and despise.

And for your tax, our poor people need you more than ever. You are not giving money to Stui and the H.R.P.P., you are helping your country and people.

Let’s all work together as law-abiding citizens to help save our beloved country from the government of the wicked.

Le Mafa P.
