BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — Flyhalf Quade Cooper is returning to Super Rugby's Queensland Reds on a three-year contract after one season with Toulon in France's Top 14 league.

The Reds said Thursday that the new deal will keep Cooper in Australian rugby through to the 2019 World Cup in Japan.

Cooper, who has 59 test caps for Australia, played 105 Super Rugby matches with Queensland between 2007 and 2015. He was part of the Reds team that beat the Crusaders 18-13 in the 2011 final.

The 28-year-old Cooper says, "I've been through the low times and the good times at the Reds, and I want to be part of putting them back on top."

Queensland finished fourth in the five-team Australian conference this year with three wins and a draw in 15 matches.
