Litia Sini’s beach front captivates couple

It’s hard not to be hypnotised by the beach front scene that sweeps over you when you sit on a large balcony at Litia Sini Beach Fales.

For Lance and Jenny, they certainly had that look of being under the ocean’s spell as they sat looking out into the water.

Dear Tourist interrupted their trance briefly but they were more than happy to open up to us about their holiday.

Lance and Jenny are New Zealanders who currently live in the United Kingdom but have made the long journey to celebrate Jenny’s sister’s wedding, which was held at Return to Paradise, at Lefaga.

They had been staying at Faimafili Resort where they really enjoyed the relaxed and personalised atmosphere while the wedding festivities were on.

They had moved on from Lefaga to spend their last couple of days at Litia’s beach fales saying that, so far, it was lovely and that the beach front was huge.

Before coming to Samoa, Lance and Jenny didn’t realise how big the country was.

“We thought it was going to be easy to get around... but no, it’s massive,” says Jenny, who revealed that they had caught taxis everywhere.

The couple had really enjoyed the wedding at Return to Paradise Resort,

“It was an amazing wedding. We had the best weather of the entire time we’ve been here on that day. I think compared to when we first came, the weather was a little worse then. Most days it’s been a little bit cloud but  on the wedding day, it was hot.”

This is Lance’s first time here but being the laid back kind of guy he is, he told us that there weren’t many things that took him by surprise.

He was pleased with what he did discover.

“Other than it’s a lot bigger than we thought, it’s kind of roughly been what we’ve expected. The food has been a bit better than I thought it was going to be. I thought it would just be taro but I like the raw fish; probably my favourite has been the coconut crumbed fish and spicy prawns.”

Lance did laugh out loud when recounting another highlight of the trip, though.

“We went into Apia for the stag do. It was good, we went to a couple of bars out there and we had a really good time. There was only two bars that we went to but it was good fun.”

The girls’ hens night was a little bit more reserved, said Jenny. They preferred a nice champagne breakfast and luncheon at the resort.

Lance did notice that the WIFI in Samoa wasn’t great and a bit on the expensive side, as were a couple of other things, but he felt that some of it was warranted.

“Yeah, it is a little expensive here, overall. The prices here are like New Zealand prices but I guess people tend to think that the prices are going to be cheaper here because it’s not a developed country, but then obviously it is expensive to get all of the supplies in from other countries, so I understand why things are expensive here.”

Would that stop them from returning? Lance didn’t think so.

“Living in the U.K., it’s probably a little to far to travel from there but when we return to New Zealand eventually, yeah, we’ll probably come back… I mean, we still have Savai’i to visit.”
