As the major sponsor of the 2018 McDonald’s Samoa Miss Samoa Pageant, the Samoa Shipping Corporation has reassured about its commitment to Savai’i residents.

This year, Savai’i for the first time in the 33 year old history of the Miss Samoa Pageant will host the event.

And as the single shipping link to the Big Island, S.S.C. saw the opportunity to continue its commitment to the big island residents.

“Supporting the Miss Samoa Pageant is an extension to our community outreach to the Big Island,” said Chief Executive Papali’i Willie Nansen.

“In the past, we have provided sponsorship for a range of community events which include Bruno’s Circus, national rugby tournaments as well as other sporting events.

“And it’s all part and parcel of our mandate to reaffirm the government’s platform that what is good for Upolu is also good enough for Savaii.”

S.S.C.  sponsorship includes $10,000 cash and $30,000 in prizes which covers fares for the contestants and organisers not to mention prizes for the floats.

“It’s our sincere way of recognising the contribution by our Savai’i residents who frequent our services seven days a week,” added Papalii. “And we are more than happy that the S.S.C. is part of this historical event which is the first ever Miss Samoa Pageant on the Big Island.”
