Life is hard but it is not impossible.

And that is why Lole Sosenuu of Falefa lives life with so much love and positivity, believing that he can do anything if he puts his mind into it.

The Village Voice spotted Mr. Sosenuu as he was riding his bike back home from his plantation up at the mountain.

The 42-year-old works as a kava farmer. He has seven children who are all still in school.

“To me, honestly I tell you that nothing is hard,” he tells the Village Voice.

“Everything is going okay. I work on the mountain because that’s where the plantation is located and I have no difficulty when it comes to transportation because I have a bike to go all the way and back home.”

“Work has been good to me. Sure it’s not much but I’m thankful and happy that I can earn money to support my family.”

“This work is useful because the money I get from it goes to my children’s education and family needs.”

He went on to say that “The faipule is not here so it is my responsibility to look after it and take good care of it.”

“I’ve been working at this job for three years and nothing seems to be going wrong so thank God for that.”

“I understand that life is going by so fast so we must make sure that our children have something to live with and help them survive day by day.”

Mr. Sosenu’u added that when he gets to rest from his work, he then spends his time developing his own vegetables patch at home.

“I don’t mind the work I do because I can do it. I would rather spend the rest of my life doing this than just sitting around while my family is struggling to survive.”
