Two unidentified cars that were racing on a road at Tanumalala yesterday caused a white taxi to flip over, leading to its driver and passengers suffering from serious injuries.

Sixty-year-old Siavei Tanuvasa, who lives within the vicinity of the scene of the accident, told the Samoa Observer that the vehicle mishap occurred as she was getting dropped off in front of her house.

“There were two cars speeding and it looked like they were racing, because the white vehicle that was badly damaged got caught in the middle of these two cars.

“As the white car was trying to get out, it ended up hitting a mound of soil on the side of the road, which then sent the car flying into the air before it rolled over and landed on the road.

“This was the first time I saw a car actually take off from the road and into the air,” she said.

The vehicle that dropped off Siavei then went to the scene of the accident and rushed the three injured passengers and the driver to the hospital.

“It was like a sign from God that I was supposed to be dropped off with the car that that will assist in saving the lives of these people.

“I also called a man that was near the scene to come help us in carrying the people to the car.

“There were four people in the car, a male driver that was accompanied by a middle aged woman and man along with a teenaged boy,” she added.

All the passengers including the driver had serious injuries according to the Tanumalala resident.

“The driver showed signs of a head injury, along with the female also revealing signs of wounds along with the two other males experiencing the same fate,” she added.
