“Remember your calling.”

That was the message from Reverend Siaosi Moananu for Samoa and his congregation when they welcomed the new year on Thursday night.

Members of the Tafitoala Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (C.C.C.S) joined thousands of Samoans around the country in thanksgiving, hours before the end of 2015.

For Rev. Moananu, he said it was important for Samoa to pause, reflect on the journey of the past year, learn from mistakes and move on.

The Reverend acknowledged that last year was full of challenges but it was by the grace of God that all had ended well.

The Pastor thanked the members of his church for their generosity and love in looking after him and his wife Imakulata.

During the service, members of the congregation were given the opportunity to testify about the blessings and challenges of 2015.

Tugaga Togamau, an elderly member of the church, recalled that although 2015 was challenging, the church was able to accomplish a lot.

Among the achievements is the completion of their new church building.

He thanked church members for having faith in the work of God and being willing to work.

“It was your financial support that enabled us to see this church building,” he said. Another member of the church, Mulipola, reminded that nothing can be accomplished if people don’t work together. He said the lesson is that there are many things that can  be achieved through hard work and dedication.
