The President of the Land and Titles Court, Fepulea’i Attila Ropati, will be sentenced on Thursday, 10 May 2018. He will appear before District Court Judge, Alalatoa Rosella Papali’i.

Last week, Fepulea’i pleaded guilty to the charge of actual bodily harm.

In return, the Prosecution moved to withdraw other charges of grievous bodily harm, common assault and being armed against him.

The defendant is represented by lawyer, Aumua Ming Leung Wai.

The charges against Fepulea’i stemmed from an incident involving a security guard of the Court.

The matter was scheduled to be in the District Court for mention to schedule a date for sentencing.

However, there was a memorandum submitted by defense to the Court requesting an early hearing date and to forgo the mention on 1 May 2018 and that they can also attend a meeting in chambers to discuss further.

According to Court officer Favesi Asi, the memorandum was reviewed by Judge Alalatoa who then gave instructions to contact both Counsels to hold the matter in chambers meeting at 9am on Monday to set the dates for filing documents and sentencing.

The request was granted by the Judge.

Last week, Supreme Court Justice Leiataualesa Darryl Clarke granted the application rendered by senior prosecutor, Rexona Titi, to dismiss the other charges against Fepulea’i.
