The Cronulla Sharks won their 12th consecutive match and moved back into first place in the National Rugby League by beating the Parramatta Eels 34-24 on Saturday.

Trailing 18-0, the Sharks recovered in the second half to become the fifth NRL side to win 12 in a row.

The Eels opted to play Semi Radradra, despite the Australia test winger being charged with domestic violence offenses during the week. He had limited playing time during the match and was booed every time he touched the ball.

Rookie winger Suliasi Vunivalu scored three tries — he has 16 on the season — and Cheyse Blair added two as the Melbourne Storm remained in second place, two points behind the Sharks, after smashing Brisbane 48-6. It was the Broncos' most lopsided home loss in their history.

The New Zealand Warriors won their fourth match in their past five games, beating the Gold Coast Titans 27-18.

Brett Morris scored a pair of tries as Canterbury beat the Sydney Roosters 24-20.

On Sunday, Canberra plays Newcastle and South Sydney takes on third-place North Queensland. Manly plays St. George Illawarra on Monday to conclude the 17th round.
