The findings by a Commission of Inquiry tasked to consider the proposed merger between the Ministry of Health (M.O.H.) and the National Health Services (N.H.S.) have been referred back to the Health sector.

This was confirmed by Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, yesterday in response to questions from the Samoa Observer.

The Prime Minister said the Commission of Inquiry findings (see story) have been referred back to the Committee appointed by Cabinet to oversee the merge.

“We’ve decided to refer the findings to the Committee overseeing the merge to have a look at it and then prepare a report for Cabinet,” Tuilaepa said.

“Cabinet will be meeting next week Tuesday and by then we will have the report from the committee in connection to the findings of the Commission.”

Tuilaepa also confirmed that Cabinet has received the report from the Commission chaired by former Attorney General, Taulapapa Brenda Heather-Latu.

“We have already told them that Cabinet is meeting on Tuesday and on that day we will deal with all the issues that have been highlighted by the Commission.”
