Leifi’ifi College won the intermediate and senior boys division of the Zone A Athletics competition at the Apia Park on Thursday.
The wins put them in a good space ahead of the Champ of Champs competition later this year.
Leifi’ifi was among 10 schools that competed in Zone A. Other schools include Aleipata College, Anoamaa College, Avele College, Falealili College, Lepa and Lotofaga, Palalaula College, Papauta College, Samoa College, and Vaimauga College.
In the girls division, Avele College dominated with winning the intermediate and senior girls, while Falealili College took the junior girls.
In the boys division Leifi’ifi College took the winners for intermediate and senior divisions.
Tuvale Leau Vaasa-Mulinuu said: “The prime focus of these athletic competitions is to give a platform for the students to showcase their skills and talents in sports.
“It is also to help with the developments in terms of them pursuing this in the future as a professional athlete.
“Difficulties faced were of course the length of time all schools spent in terms of preparations, like team uniforms, but also to rural colleges for transportation for all the players.
“It was evident today that all schools have worked so hard together to make today’s event possible.
“We are also greatly appreciative of our sponsors like Samoa Stationaries and Books (S.S.A.B.) for their support.
“In terms of any concerns about the violence between schools, it all depends on every individual. If a child has been well taught by their parents then they will not cause trouble but some just have no common sense in choosing between right and wrong,” she added. The winners from Zone A are now in the process of preparing for the Champs of Champs on August 24.
