Water an urgent need for Fasito’o-uta family

A father from Fasitoo-Uta says there is a great urgency for water tanks in his area.

Siaosi Pita is concerned about the lack of proper water supply, which he is certain affects “many families” located far from the main road as well.

“The water supply ends in the front with families that live close to the main road,” he said.

“Whereas for us at this part of Fasitoo-uta, we continuously struggle to look for water. We mainly rely on rainwater.”

“There are more than 20 families that live all the way back here and there is also a church parish that is located there. So it is no doubt they also find it difficult to look for water.

“We worry about what to drink when there is no water in the middle of the night or even shower,” he said.

Siaosi, 48, says he walks to his mother’s house to bath because they have a water connection in their home.

“Usually I go late at night and by the time I get home, I am all sweaty again.”

Water is more important than having electricity for Mr. Pita.

He said having light during the night is not as important compared to his demand for water.

The father of one looks at other parents who have many children with so much worry because the more children they have, the more work that they need to do, and having no water adds to their burden.

“I am a farmer and this my way of survival. My son has grown up and I’m separated from my wife, so I have nothing to worry about unlike other parents, I feel so bad for them because having more than one child is complicated and to have no water is even worse,” he added.
