Stay away, members of the public urged

 Members of the public have been urged to keep far away from the burning tank at the Matautu Wharf.

The message comes from the Disaster Management Office (D.M.O) as firefighters battle the blaze.

“The DMO has been informed and updated from the on-site agencies Ministry of Police and FESA – the Public is to strongly advised to be cautious and stay away from around the area from the Matautu wharf to Sogi (coastal area – Main Beach Road) the agencies are responding accordingly and evacuating people and businesses that will be affected,” a statement from D.M.O says. 

“There is a strong worry that the second pipelines and tank will blow up at this area.”
