Re: Chief Executive defends sand mining

“Consequently we see a lot of changes on the beaches. We notice huge erosion problems, changes of currents, palm trees being uprooted and falling into the sea.”

“But Suluimalo said the operation is done legally with a permit and that it is also closely monitored to protect the environment.”

If it’s true that palm trees being uprooted and falling into the sea, I suppose that has been interpreted as protecting the environment. lol

I have a strong feeling that Suluimalo has never been there to see it.

“They are making the roads in the area as well as the seawall for the village. You have to understand that when you build a seawall then you need sand for the wall.”

Perhaps the truck load of sands in the picture taken by a concerned citizen had left the beach to cruise around and returned to the seashore from wherever it went for the building of the seawall or maybe the seawall is being constructed somewhere else before spending muscles and gas to deliver it to the seashore. lol

“Back to Suluimalo, he refuted claims that the sand mining practice has been going on for years.” “L.E.C. hasn’t been doing this for very long,” he said”

Would you care to be specific? How long?

Oh well if the village is getting a good tar sealed road, that is great they will need it, if there’s another catastrophe, because rocks sink, while sand is a good sealer to keep the water away they will need a good road for a dash for life.
