Christmas has come early for Lemoa Emosi Tufu’e and his family from Afega, when they were the recipients of gift hampers from local company Island Rock yesterday.

Kicking off their 25 Days of the Spirit of Christmas Campaign yesterday, company staff and members of the local media visited some of the families—whose daily challenges were featured in the Village Voice weekly column of the Samoa Observer—and made the presentations.

Emosi, 66, and his family were one of four lucky families who received food hampers containing a box of chicken, tinned fish, noodles, box of crackers, bags of rice together with toys for the children.

“I am truly humbled by such generosity. I am shocked that our family could receive this blessing.

“As you can see, me and my family are not rich and we have nothing to repay you all with, but I pray that God will bless Island Rock for having a kind heart to give to those in need.

“We also acknowledge the programme by the Samoa Observer in giving a voice for those that need assistance,” he said.

His family’s daily challenges were featured in this newspaper’s Village Voice column, where they requested assistance due to the deteriorating condition of their house.

Island Rock representative, Maiava Iosia, told the family that they were working in partnership with the Samoa Observer to assist families that are in need.

“We are working in partnership with Samoa Observer because we are currently running a campaign that spreads the spirit of giving to those in great need of help that are featured in the Village Voice.

“Our company is spreading the spirit of love as well by gifting families with food supplies and toys to put smiles on kids’ faces.

“We also thank the Samoa Observer for finding people who are in need so that assistance can be given to them,” he said.

Being confined to a wheelchair was an added challenge for Emosi and his four children, but he was delighted when Island Rock representatives and the media arrived to do the presentation.
