Teams have begun training for the Nafanua Outrigger Canoe Club’s Business House Fundraiser. The event will be held in just over two weeks’ time on Saturday 19 March 2016.

The teams are receiving training from experienced paddlers from the Nafanua Outrigger Canoe Club. The first two teams representing Mmaxfit Gym and Bluesky were first to paddle last week and also earlier this week.

Bluesky’s captain, Siala Lova, said: “Most of our team are new to paddling so we saw this as a great opportunity to learn to work together differently and bond as a team, by doing something new and fun.

“We are also pleased that our participation will support the Nafanua Outrigger Canoe Club’s Junior Program in this way”, he continued.

The event will raise funds to support the Nafanua Outrigger Canoe Club’s Junior Program, which coaches Samoa’s children in paddling, water safety, and caring for our environment.

Reminder for participants in the Business House Fundraiser, they will:

-  Learn how to paddle from experienced club coaches, in the lead up to the day (up to 2 training sessions a week over the upcoming weeks)

-  Have access to boats and paddling equipment

-  Have up to 7 members per team registered

-  Test their new skills and teamwork on race day

With some great prizes going to up for grabs, and a bbq and drinks celebrating the day to be held at Ocean’s Club in Matautu, competing teams are not going to be disappointed with the day’s events!

It’s not too late for interested organisations to register at $300 tala per team, by contacting Nafanua Chairman Ulugia Jay Ah-Fook, President Mamea Samuel Ieremia or Secretary Tagaloa Frances Mahealani Te'o (contact details below).
