Endangering people’s lives

Dear Editor,

Re: Escaped convicts get more time

How often do we hear these crimes committed by those who escape from Tafaigata jail?

Didn’t we hear Tuilaepa Sailele in that embarrassing interview with 60 Minutes Australia mentioned that he was fixing the problems with escaping prisoners?

Nothing is done and Samoa will continue to be a scary place to visit because these prisoners are getting out of jail at will and do commit more crimes.

One day, something will happen that will be worse than breaking into someone’s home.

Raping someone who came to our country just to enjoy its beauty and have a great time is worse. This will cost someone’s life.

Tuilaepa should be held accountable for these crimes that are constantly committed by those escaped from Tafaigata jail.

Tuilaepa should be living in that facility and he to will recognize that he can also just walk out without any effort.

Where are the millions of dollars donated from overseas countries to upgrade our pathetic facilities?

A pa ma’a will not prevent prisoners from escaping and a pa maa do not cost Samoa a penny.

People’s lives are in harms way because no one feels safe from the corrupt systems protecting our people. Prisoners are laughing at the court and policing system of Samoa and the government is sleeping while these scary criminals and roaming the neighborhoods and crimes are repeating over and over under his nose.

Giving more jail time is not a solution to the problems with the jail that keep this convicts. The jail is a joke. The police are a joke. Tuilaepa, this is not funny at all.
