Farmers also have issues

A lot of people say that there is money buried in the dirt and you can only get it through farming.

For Titi Talamoni from the Village of Faleasi’u Moamoa, he believes this is so true.

Aged 28, he works hard in his plantation where he told Village Voice that this is the solution to all the problems in terms of money.

However the farmer needs help too.

“This is how I make money to provide for my family,” he said.

“However my plantation’s problem is the availability of water.”

“You see, no plantation will thrive without water and with the pipes are located far away.”

This makes his work a lot harder.

“I haul water to my plantation every day.’

“This is my plantation and I am trying to develop it.”

“And you see  water is not only the issue here.”

The fact is that we have too many things to do with the money we get which means people have it hard.

“Being a farmer is very good money but no matter how smart we are at budgeting, it easily disappears.”

“When I first started farming, I made a lot of money every day from selling taro but nowadays with everything being to do with money, I realized I needed to find a job.”

“So now, I am also working as a sailor but sometimes I put that aside and come back to farming.”

Titi says he prefers working as a farmer over any other type of work, but he has to find another job because of the expensive cost of living.

“One of the reasons why I always come back and work at my plantation is because this is what we used to do back in the days.”

“The plantation was and still is our life; that is something that I will never forget.”

“This is why I work as a sailor but whenever I’m home I work at our plantation.”

“It is also how we live here in Samoa and this is the best way to make money.”
