2017 and still no access to water

Water is the most important factor in life.

It is life.

For Solomona Amosa of Fasito’o Uta, he said his family haven’t had a steady water supply to their home for as long as he can remember.

“To be honest, I’m very grateful to God that we still get to wake up every day without water,” he said.

“I know I’m blessed with lands of my own to depend on, but one thing missing is water.”

Mr. Amosa was doing some work on his land when the Village Voice spotted them.

He said the struggle for water is nothing new.

“Ever since I came into this world, having no water has always been an issue here in our area,” he said.

“That’s because the pipelines don’t reach here. The pipeline is 100 meters from our house so my sons helped me fetch water when we need it.”

“We only have a water tank that we bought to live on, so if we don’t have water, we go to the inner village to fetch it. Sometimes the rain saves us.”

“We have already discussed this with our Village Council and up till now, there’s still no solution for this problem because we can’t do anything when the government can’t help us do it.”

This is a problem and a struggle to us because water is important to everyone; it’s a need to everyone.

“We use it for basically everything and yet it’s one of the things we don’t have.”

“That’s why I don’t also do animal farm because there is no steady supply of water.”

“We can’t have our little children stay here because there’s no water.”

“We really need water here please because life without water is a lot harder than you can imagine.”

“We need water; and I guess you guys have helped us voice our problems many times now. It’s a good thing your Village Voice programme reaches us because it’s 2017 and we still don’t have any water pipelines set up on our side.”
