Police investigate dog attack death

The Police have confirmed an incident where a mother and her two-month-old baby were attacked by dogs, leading to the death of the baby.

The incident was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police.

“On Monday 25th June 2018, Police were informed of an incident at Leulumoega where a mother and her two month old baby were severely attacked by dogs,” the statement reads.

“Both victims were transported to Leulumoega hospital where the two month old baby was pronounced dead. 

“The mother was later transferred to Motootua hospital to receive medical assistance due to the severe injuries she sustained.”

The Police are continuing their investigation.

In another matter, the Police also confirmed a homicide case last week.

“The victim is a 40-year-old male of Apolima,” the Police report reads.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that death appears to be suicide. Police investigation are continuing and the matter will be referred to the Coroner for Coronial inquiries.”

In a separate incident, the Police were called to a home at Lotopa where they found a deceased male 27 years old of Fiji and Lotopa. 

Police inquiries are still ongoing and the matter will be referred to the Coroner for Coronial inquiries.
