The Samoa Sinnet Fashion Show donated $15,000 worth of products to the Pediatric Ward last Friday.

They included 100 polar fleece blankets, 100 soft pillow inners, 100 pillow inner covers and 100-150 pillow cases.

Founder and the Director of the S.S.F. Show, Enid Westerlund said a financial statement will be released to sponsors in time.

“We also aim to add more to the Children’s Ward next year as the Samoa Sinnet Fashion Show is now an annual event in July.

“All the products were from New Zealand and we hope that they will remain and be used by the children admitted to the hospital and that the N.H.S team will use a log book to keep track of the donated items.”

She also believes that even though there is no winter in Samoa, the blankets will be very useful.

“They were purchased because the hospital is air-conditioned and blankets are needed,” said Westerlund.

The inaugural Samoa Sinnet Fashion Show held in July featured creations by 13 local designers at the stunning Taumeasina Island Resort.

They were able to raise $50,000.

They decided to donate $15,000 worth of items to the children’s ward and there are other worthy causes like the Young Artists Foundation and other charities such as Mapuifagalele that they want to offer their help to.

“We hope to continue these donations on an annual basis, depending on how much the show can collect.”

“There is a need for a Children’s Playground and some paintings, and we hope for a bigger show next year so we can donate more for the children,” said Westerland.

For the Young Artists Foundation, she hopes S.S.F. can help the them find their way in the world by providing experts to teach them not only about the art of designing but to find their own markets on online.

She said S.S.F. is looking at a partnership with another group, but “that will all be revealed next week.”

Pediatric Ward Doctor Litara Esera Tulifau, acknowledged the assistance from the Samoa Sinnet Fashion.

“We are very grateful to S.S.F. for choosing the Children’s Ward for these gifts,” said Dr Litara.

“These are beautiful and ideal for the children especially the blankets that will be handy for them in the rooms,” she said.

The only problem faced by the hospital, is families taking hospital property when they leave the hospital.

“We hope and pray the patients appreciate the value of this donation.”
