The Vaivase-tai Congregational Christian Church of Samoa’s Pre-School has been officially opened.

Church members recently celebrated the end of the building project with a thanksgiving service. 

Church Secretary Papali’i Dr. Samuelu Petaia said they were grateful the project was completed and the pre-school building erected.

He said the project kicked off without funding, and would not have got to the completion stage, without the funding support of the church as well as individual Vaivase-Tai church families.

“Every project needs a lot of money in order to complete it. The work started off without any money but it was the committee’s courage that the work has been completed.

“We then received $50,000 from the church which helped out with the starting of the building. 

“We then asked for more and was given another $50,000.

“The money was still not enough and so we asked for more again and we were blessed with $25,000 by the church. 

“So, the overall money that made this project possible is $125,000 excluding what we spend on the electricity, water and others,” he said, in an interview with the Samoa Observer.

Papali’i paid tribute to everyone who contributed to the funding, saying that completing the project would not have been possible without them.

“I would like to acknowledge the help of everyone in the church. Everyone has thrown a stone and contributed to the project as it is now, the pastor Seilala Luamanuvae and wife Agape Luamanuvae, the youth, the different committes in the church and the members in general.”

The Vaivase-Tai Pre-School was established by the church’s women committee 10 years. But it was only at the beginning of this year, when they decided that the school will come under the church and a proper building should be constructed—not only for the church children but others from the village and the district.
