Eliesa’s bail hearing date set

The bail hearing for a man charged with attempted murder, in connection to the shooting of a woman in the face last month, has been scheduled for 13 February 2019.

The date was set when Peter Tulaga Eliesa appeared before the Chief Justice, his Honour Patu Tiava’asu’e Falefatu Sapolu, on Monday.

The bail application was first raised last month during the defendant’s initial appearance.

The hearing has been scheduled to be heard before Supreme Court Justice Tafaoimalo Leilani Tuala-Warren.

Eliesa is represented by Leota Tima Leavai, while Leone Su’a Mailo stood in on behalf of the Attorney General’s office.

Eliesa has been in Police custody since his arrest last month.  

The gun shooting victim remains in a critical condition and is currently undergoing medical procedures in New Zealand, after she was medivacked out of Samoa last month.
