On Friday, the High Tech Youth Network held its first workshop in its new studio at Vaivase Uta.

The workshop’s purpose was to provide an overview outlining their presence in Samoa, the programmes to be offered, methods of programme delivery and the volunteers’ and mentors’ programme.

It was hosted by In-country Manager, Moananu Tyrone Laurenson and Associate Director of Learning Keu Iorangi and the New Zealand High Commissioner, Mike Walsh also addressed the participants.

Both Moananu and Keu spoke to stakeholders and presented programmes that will help the digital economy of Samoa by investing in building the information communication and technology skills and talent (or the state of the art I.T. equipment.)

Participants who attended came from the three HTYN partner ministries: the Ministry of Education Sports and Culture, the Ministry of Community and Social Development and the Ministry of Communication, Information and Technology.

Other stakeholders and interested parties were from the Madd Gallery, SENESE, Malua Theological College, the Latter Day Saints Church, Samoa College and Filet685 Productions.

Here are some photos of some of the participants and students who took the opportunity to have an early look at the equipment and to try out some of the systems.
