Asco Motors Samoa is celebrating the success of three of their employers who won awards during a National Skills Contest staged in Fiji earlier this year.

The success means customers can expect better service when they visit the team at Asco Motors next.

Poleki Suitulaga, the Service Advisor, Aleni Sagato, Service Technician and Apelu Asovale of the Parts Division also collected awards.

Asco Administration and CRM Officer, Lupe Tariu, said this is the second contest the trio have taken part.

“So the first test was called the V.S.A.T test,” she said.

“Vanuatu, Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga took part and Samoa came first.

“The winners from that contest participated in the National Skill Contest which they also won,” she said.

“They competed in three different categories and all three of them won those categories.”

Service Advisor winner, Poleki Suitulaga spoke on behalf of them all said the competitions were extremely useful.

“The importance of this programme is that it not only helps us understand more about our work but it also expands our skills set in dealing with different challenges,” he said.

“Not only that, but to know more about cars and serving customers and what we need to do while dealing with them is critical.

“We went through the practical, and theory as well to expand our knowledge on our work.”

So what’s next?

Mr. Suitulaga they are gearing up for the Regional Skills Competition in Australia next year. “The next competition is the Regional Skills Contest,” he said.

“And the last competition will be held in Japan after this competition in Australia and it’s called the Oceania Skills Contest.”
