Heavy rain throughout the country triggered a landslide on the east coast of Upolu on Tuesday night.

The landslide between Luatuanu’u and Solosolo delayed traffic in the area.

Rocks, logs and mud blocked the road, calling for emergency workers to intervene.

Yesterday, the Land Transport Authority warned members of the public to be aware when they are driving out that way.

“As of tonight the road is still passable however we remind the public to be cautious when travelling,” the Authority warned.

The landslide is among problems created by heavy downpours throughout the country yesterday.

Last night, the Samoa Met Office attributed the bad weather pattern to a convergence zone.

“Tropical Disturbance 06F lies Northwest from Samoa, meanwhile; an active convergence remains within the vicinity of Samoa associated with cloud and rain,” the weather forecast reads.

A heavy rain warning has been enforced for Samoa, with low-lying areas warned against flooding.
