Rewards come to people who work hard – Tala

People who work hard will succeed.

There is absolutely no disputing that.

So says Tala Wesley of Manono and Vaitele.

The 60-year old father of father works as a Security Officer for the National Bank of Samoa.

Looking back on life, he said nothing comes easy.

But there are rewards for people who work without giving up.

Originally from Manono, Tala stays at Vaitele to be closer to his work.

“The life of a working person is not easy but the rewards are great when they serve faithfully,” he said. “I don’t feel like working sometimes but I have no choice because I think about my family. I’m sure many people are like that.”

Asked about life, Tala said life quality is determined by how hard people work.

“Life doesn’t have to be hard. It’s easy if our people work instead of complaining about the cost of living.”

Tala added that the cost of living will always increase but there is nothing people can do.

“It’s beyond our control,” he said about the cost of living.

And how do we deal with it?

“Don’t depend on other people to provide for your family. Stand up and do something to help your family. Whether it’s working or whatever.”

As for Tala, he said his priority is his children.

“I give all my best for my kids; I want them to have a better life for the future so they can provide for their own families.”

Tala said he makes okay money from his job and that is used on utilities costs.

He also saves some of it for rainy days.

“You never know,” he said about the importance of saving.
