God first and live a simple life

The world has changed so to stay safe, we should live a life of simplicity and let God lead the way.

This is the philosophy of Salesa Peleti of Fasito’o, a 36 year old farmer, spotted by Village Voice when he was working in his plantation.

“I’ve never worked before for any company,” he said to the Village Voice team.

“All I’ve been doing all my life is dealing with the land; clearing it, planting crops and gathering them.

“I always start my work early in the morning before the sun gets too hot to do any work.”

Salesa said he comes to the plantation around 7 o’clock in the morning.

“I’m a farmer so the work I do is pretty simple.

“My focus is on my work and at the same time, on my family.

“I have a wife and one daughter and at the moment they are staying at Vailele.

“I come here to keep my sister company because she’s ill but I’m always with my family at Vailele.

“So every day while I’m here, this is what I do; working in the plantation.

“To me, all these little things matter because I’m doing it for my family.

“Yes, my focus is on my family and I’m going to live this life and make sure that my children will grow up right.

“I want them to grow up knowing how to make use of the plantation and what they have to offer.

“Family is where everything begins so this is always the best place and time to teach your children and keep them close to God.

“He’s the only one who can help us avoid so many inappropriate behavior spreading all over the world.

“No matter how smart we are, if we don’t have God in our lives, we are nothing.”
