The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (L.D.S.) Charities donated furniture to Leulumoega Village on Tuesday. 

The donation included 10 tables and 50 chairs which will be used by the Leulumoega Village Council.  

Representatives from the L.D.S. Charities presented the tables and chairs to the village council.  

L.D.S. Charities missionary, Elder Cameron, said the council asked for assistance with furniture as the chiefs are elderly people and their meetings are usually long. 

“It is difficult for them to sit cross-legged on the floor for the duration of their meetings. Some members of the council suffer from arthritis and (blood) circulation problems, which add to the difficulty of sitting on the floor,” Cameron said. 

“We strongly believe that in following our saviour Jesus Christ, it comes with serving others in the process. We love helping those who are in need and we do not focus on a certain religion or nationality, all are equal in our eyes. For us to help others, that is very important because it makes a difference and with it we are procuring our faith.”

It is not the first time for the church charity group to come to the aid of community and these included local families according to Cameron. 

“This is not the first time we have done such charities. We have assisted so many local families with requests for assistance. And of course this is not the last time we will be looking at helping the Samoan community, we will continue to go out to help those who are need,” he added.

The Leulumoega village council was thankful for the donation made by the L.D.S. Charities.
