Eight more Japanese volunteers arrive

Eight more volunteers from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (J.I.C.A) have arrived in Samoa.

To begin their mission in Samoa, they met with some government officials in the Public Service Commission, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Education as well as Japan Embassy’s representative in Apia, Ambassador Tuimaugaoalii Kazumasa Shibuta. 

A total of 616 Japanese Volunteers to date, both past and present have served in Samoa since its inception in 1972.

The new arrivals consisting of two Senior and six Junior Volunteers are excited, ready and willing to contribute to Samoa’s development over the next two years during their terms in Samoa.  

Most of the new volunteers work in Education and placed around Upolu with primary and secondary schools in Malifa, Moata’a, Lauli’i, Leulumoega, Siumu, Apolima-Uta.  

The remaining two volunteers will work with the Forestry Division of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Dental Division of the National Health Services.

Another volunteer is scheduled to arrive in Samoa in November 2016.  The close bonds between Samoa and Japan continue to strengthen and grow through J.I.C.A’s Volunteer Scheme.
