E.P.C. aims for improvement

PR - The Electric Power Corporation (E.P.C) is now implementing new changes to its meter reading and payment of electricity bill services for consumers using postpaid electricity, as endorsed by the Office of the Regulator late last month.

This is part of E.P.C’s continuous efforts in improving its services to the general public. These improvements are implemented to ensure the consumers are paying for the electricity they use during a particular month, using the tariff as per Regulator Order for that month.

“Meter reading for all of our consumers using readable meters will be carried out on the last day of each month,” Acting General Manager, Tu’u’u Ekiumeni Fauolo said.

Previously, meter reading was conducted throughout the month.

For instance, meters read on the 15th of current month would be read on the 15th of the next month to make up the 30 days. Now, all readable meters will be read in one day.

The Corporation is seeking assistance from the general public, for the effective implementation of this change in service.

“Due to the shortage of resources, we ask our domestic consumers still on induction meters to assist us by taking your own readings and submit to our offices on the last day, if our meter readers have not yet visited your homes to take your readings,” Tu’u’u said.

The E.P.C has also looked at ways to ensure that electricity consumption by domestic users on postpaid electricity are read on time and rates are correctly applied.

“We will be estimating monthly consumptions on some meters and will be verified in the following month,” Tu’u’u added.

“The E.P.C encourages our consumers to pay your bills on time to avoid disconnection, allow our meter readers to read meters on your properties, and provide us with your meter readings, if your houses or gates are locked during the day.”
