Indulge in class at the Kofe Haus

Have you ever found yourself stuck in Vaitele, in dire need of  good coffee, but there’s no café anywhere in the area?

With so many developments happening in Vaitele, the one thing that has always been missing is a good place to sit with friends or family, chat and enjoy a good home made meal with that beautiful roasted coffee bean aroma dangling in the air.

Well you don’t have to look any further or settle with that awful three in one coffee mix anymore.

Just along the Maota Samoa Road in Vaitele sits Kofe Haus, a newly opened café that unlike your usual coffee joint, will give you a coffee experience like no other.

With a unique retro theme, you will feel as if you’re going back in time with every sip of that homegrown and home-roasted cup of joe.

Managed by Beatrice Ott, 22, from the village of Leone, your coffee experience will be like no other with the only problem being, not wanting to leave or not having anymore room for another cup.

And we haven’t even gotten to the best part yet, you can now say goodbye to your usual $10 coffees and prepare to indulge an amazing cup for just $7 at Kofe Haus and save that extra $3.

Speaking to the Sunday Samoan, Beatrice explains that the café was opened by her parents, Tanya and Sulamanaia Montini Ott last week simply because there was that passion for coffee.

“It’s called Kofe Haus and my mom and dad wanted to open it because we grow our own coffee and my dad roasts it as well,” she said. “I guess his (dad) passion for coffee made him want to finally open a café so he gave it to me to manage. We just started this week and we will start advertising next week.”

If you are wondering what sets Kofe Haus apart from the many other cafés in Samoa, as mentioned earlier, you won’t find a more affordable price anywhere for good cup of coffee.

“Probably our price,” Beatrice said. “We are very reasonable and we cater for the middle class to the higher class. A lot of our stuff is organic and we try to use a lot of local ingredients on our menus.”

Asked about the idea behind the café and what makes the establishment special, Beatrice says it’s that unique homie and yet foreign atmosphere they have created.

“Just the atmosphere,” she said. “If you come here we have friendly customer service. Outside when you come to the exterior we kind of aim to have a German kind of background look."

“That’s why the walls aren’t painted and inside is kind of contrasting. So in the interior we have a retro theme like the American diners overseas."

“So you will walk in and see Elvis, Marilyn Monroe along the walls and we will be playing olden days music like from the 60’s and 70’s; so yeah, that kind of atmosphere and that kind of vibe.”

And when it comes to the food, Kofe Haus aims to impress.

“For breakfast we have eggs benedict, bacon and eggs, short stack, and for lunch we will be serving meatballs and gravy, chicken and chips, fish and chips, supo povi and Thai chicken salad,” Beatrice said.

“Just for a starter and for our specials we are going to have every Wednesday, chicken curry and then probably Friday we’ll have barbeque but we will have to finalise that.”

So don’t worry anymore when you’re in Vaitele, far away from any other café, because Kofe Hause welcomes you with open arms.

“Please come,” Beatrice said. “We would like to see all your friendly faces.”

You can even purchase your own 1kg pack of locally grown and locally roasted coffee for just $80 there.

Kofe Haus is open from 7am – 2pm on weekdays and 8am – 1pm on Saturdays. Call Beatrice on 8424924 for more details.
