On Thursday, students and staff of A.P.T.C paused from their normal routines to commerate the lives of those who have been affected by cancer.

A.P.T.C had been one of the many supporters of the Samoa Cancer Society over the years.

The Country Manager of A.P.T.C, Patricia Vella said that the idea to consider the lives of people who are fighting against cancer derives from their belief that “everyoneneeds people to support them and to be there for them through hard times.”

“We all know that they are fighting a losing battle, but we want to remind them that we are here for them.”

The ‘I can, We can’ campaign is reinforcing the support of people of our community towards those who are battling this disease and A.P.T.C supported the campaign by celebrating the World Cancer Day.

“We decided to show our support by showing the patients that we are all here for them. I think that’s all they need. They want to see people especially youth standing up and helping them through their battle instead of thinking and looking at them differently.

Putting a smile on the faces of the patient, is one goal behind the celebration.

“We want to tell them that we care and we are here to help,” said Patricia.  “We have been fundraising to support the Samoa Cancer Society and we are one of the supporters for the Society.

“This is because we know that our support and consideration is much needed by them.

“Also we wanted to show and deliver the message that they are never alone in this world and that there are people out there who share your pain and are willing to help and support you.”
