The Vaimoso Village Council has stepped in to assist in the search of Samoa’s most wanted man, Uili Manuleleua, who escaped from Tafaigata prison in December last year.

This was confirmed by the Policies Committee Chairman for Vaimoso Village Council, High Chief Aulavemai Asiata Tafito.

“This prisoner is a son of Vaimoso and if anyone in the village knows his whereabouts should come forward and inform the Police.

“Penalties will be levelled against anyone in the village who knows any information, but does not come forward,” said Aulavemai.

Uili, who is serving time for several burglary cases, escaped from jail the week before Christmas.

According to Aulavemai, the Vaimoso Village Council reached out to Uili’s siblings to assist in the search.

“We want this prisoner to be taken back to Prison and we at Vaimoso are doing everything we can to find information on the whereabouts of the prisoner,” said the High Chief.

Police Superintendent and Media Spokesperson, Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo, says they depend on the information from the public to track down Uili.

“We have received tips from the public, however it does not pan out and we’re back at square one.

“We advise members of the public not to approach him directly because he is considered aggressive and dangerous,” said Auapa’au.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Uili, please contact the Police on phone number 911 or 22222 or contact any nearest Police Post.”
