Vikings win the battle of Savai’i

Round 3 of the Super 9 Rugby Championships is done and dusted.

The Puapua Primary School field was packed last Saturday with spectators who witnessed the match of the week between the Warriors of Palauli, Salega and Asau taking on the Vikings of Faasaleleaga, Amoa and Itu o Tane.

These two teams are the only team representing the Big Island of Savaii, and went head to head.

At the end, Vikings came out on top, as they defeated Warriors by 32-19 points. Another exciting clash during the weekend was the top of the table clash between Eels of Vaimauga and Tornadoes of Falealili and Siumu. This crucial match played in Apia Park, resulted Eels hammered Tornadoes scoring 33-19 at full time.

Eagles of Tuamasaga lined up against Chiefs of Aana, Aiga I le Tai and Falelatai region at Leulumoega Fou field last weekend. Chiefs came out too strong defeating Eagles by 31-19 at full time. At ACP Marist Sport Complex, Knights of Faleata region hosted Navigators of Safata and Lefaga region. 

Knights secured their first win of the competition after defeating Navigators 29-26 in a close game.

After results from the weekend, Eels and Chiefs have now shared the top spot, Tornadoes in third spot while Vikings and Legends sitting together for the fourth and fifth spot. This week resumes Round 4 of Super 9 Championships.
