A total of 19 Parliamentary Committee reports have been presented to the Parliament for its deliberation when it convened last Friday.

Three reports were submitted by the Standing Orders, Electoral, Petitions and Constitutional Offices Committee.

The other nine reports came from the Finance and Expenditure Committee and three from the Social Sector Committee. The Economic Sector Committee and Infrastructure Sector Committee both submitted two reports each for the Parliament’s consideration.

On legislation, three bills were introduced to the Parliament last Friday. They are the Head of State Amendment Bill 2018, Alcohol Control Bill 2018 and the Intellectual Property Amendment Bill 2018.

The Intellectual Property Amendment Bill 2018 was given special consideration and given a certificate of urgency notice signed by the Leader of the House. This paved the way for the legislation to proceed to the second reading and the third reading.

The Head of State Amendment Bill 2018 progressed to the second reading and was referred to the Standing Orders, Electoral, Petitions and Constitutional Offices Committee for its consideration.

The House sat for an hour and 84 minutes last Friday with Government business matters taking up most of the politicians’ time. The House was adjourned to December 18.
