Cop denies corruption charge

A Police Inspector, Tole'afoa Keti Tole’afoa, has pleaded not guilty to one count of corruption under section 137 of the Crimes Act 2013. 

The accused was charged on 16 August 2015 for corruptly accepting a bribe in his official capacity as a law enforcement officer. 

The hearing of the matter has been adjourned until 29 August 2016.

The accused, 51, of Si’usega, appeared before the Chief Justice, His Honour Patu Tiava’asu'e Falefatu Sapolu, yesterday.

The prosecutor is Lagafuaina Tavita of the National Prosecution Office.

 Lawyer Leota Raymond Schuster is representing the Police officer.

The accused was asked to continue with his bail condition.
