The results might have been disappointing for Samoa at Apia Park yesterday but the crowd had great time nonetheless.

The sea of blue sang in loud voice, laughed, danced and took many, many selfies with the players in the end.

But it wasn’t all blue.

Dozens of Fiji fans dressed in bright blue and sported their national flag with pride.

Many Fijian fans are based locally and they were ecstatic to see their team win.

Samoan fans were naturally disappointed. They wondered how the team could lose having jumped to an 18-0 lead in the first 20 minutes.

One disheartened Toa Samoa fan stated, “I feel very sad that they lost here in Samoa. It’s the first test and it’s the 30 years.”

Toa Samoa’s loss was not the only one.

Earlier in the day, New South Wales Country came away with a clean sweep over both the Toa Samoa Residence and U16’s team.

The NSW Country U16’s boys proved too good for Toa Samoa U16, winning 46-10.

The NSW team awarded the Player of the Match to Usufono Falilikio from Pesega College.

Shortly after, the Toa Samoa Residence took the pitch against The New South Wales Country team.

Although Toa Samoa Residents scored a try within minutes after kickoff, the NSW Country again came back to win, 36-12.

The NSW Country awarded the Man of the Match to Johnny Samuelu from Sili, Savaii.
