Everyone is created the same; it is our will power to achieve our dreams that makes a difference.

Here is Solomona Maiava, a 63-year-old from the village of Vaitele-Fou.

Solomona believes that in order to live a simple life, we must work together and have the mind-set that we can get a job no matter our age.

Despite having four children who are all working, Solomona still wants to help his family, even if it means being a grounds man.

He said working also helped him keep fit and healthy.

Solomona is certain that anyone can get a job if they are willing to work instead of staying home doing nothing.

“I don’t understand why people say that life is hard when life will be made much easier if you get your own job and work hard to help out with your own family. I am 63 years old and I could still work and this is a good exercise for me,” Solomona said to the Village Voice team yesterday.

He said we must never worry but rely on God for he was the source of life and everything that we needed and more.

Solomona believes the Lord will bless him and give him the strength to go on every new day.

Talking to the Village Voice team yesterday, he said we would only face obstacles if we didn’t humble ourselves.

He believes that humility is the key of living a happy life.

On the other hand, he believes the cost of living has been made easier through the Chinese and their products.

“The Chinese shops have been a major help to our family, we mostly shop there. Their prices are affordable and they have almost everything.”

“I guarantee you the products that you find in the Chinese shops are almost the same as the products of other shops that are expensive,” he said.

Solomona wants to lead by example so that his children can idolise him and follow in his footsteps.
