The smile on Floval Vaitu’utu’u’s face says it all.

Named Vaitele-Uta Primary School’s 2017 dux, you can’t really stop her.

Alongside the dux award, the 13-year-old also topped Basic Science, Social Studies, H.P.E., Visual Arts and Samoan.

Flo said she was glad to make her family happy.

“I had not expected the dux award but I am glad that I won because the award means a lot to me and my family,” Flo said.

“Ever since I was a small girl I always looked up to those who won in previous years those who actually got this award.

“I dreamt of seeing myself here and my dream has come true.

“There’s nothing more important to me than my family’s happiness and if it means I work hard day and night to keep achieving high awards, I will continue to do it.

Her mother Pilesi was a proud woman.

“I could not be more proud,” she said.

“Vai always made me proud and I only wished her father had not passed away.”

Her parents are Pilesi and the late Vaitu’utu’u Timu from Vaitele-Uta.

Flo is heading to Samoa College next year.
