Misiluki Day Spa welcomes you

Customers have one more reason to visit S.S.A.B’s Megastore. That’s because the Misiluki Day Spa has opened a branch there and is inviting you to visit them.

Misiluki Day Spa is a natural skin and body care salon that gives people just that in a very traditional yet professional way.

Owner Lufilufi Rasmussen said the Spa has been around for eight years now, operating at Tamaligi.

“I have always had a passion for beauty but I needed to go to university first before I could run a business,” she said. “Back then it was an opportunity for me to set up and follow the passion that I wanted to do. This is the new location and we just moved in two weeks ago.”

So why the name Misiluki?

“I thought it was fun. I was driving through the market one day and thought that Misiluki was a great name.

“It is distinctive to Samoa and it’s a variety of banana but it wasn’t so much about the banana I just thought it was very Samoan.

“It’s fun and feminine because the translation of misiluki is lady finger bananas in English. I thought it was a fun name. Lady fingers … it was fun, feminine and fabulous.”

At Misiuki, their work is based around the “loto alofa” or “loving heart.” And over the years, they have been able to create a special brand that is loved by their customers.

“We’ve developed our own signature skin care range that we have been working on since 2009 which we will be launching in two months time.

“It’s based on coconut oil base but a new premium product that we will be exporting overseas.

“We are very proud of what we have achieved with the staff and I have a small team but we are still working at developing what we have.”

And with success, there are always challenges.

“The main challenge is the fact that it’s still a luxury service so it’s difficult to try and make money when only a small percentage of people have that disposal income who can afford the services,” she said.

“We try to offer service for the hospitality and in the tourism industry because we are seen as secondary service to the tourism industry.”

Mrs. Rasmussen added that their local customers are also extremely important to them.

“We also rely on repeat business from locals, not so much from the tourists because there aren’t as many tourists as we would like but we are hopeful that in the years to come that we will raise the standards.”

Lastly, Mrs. Rasmussen encouraged entrepreneurs – especially women – to follow their dreams.

“It’s important to follow your dreams and to look after yourself because Samoans love to present themselves which I think is a great thing.

“It adds confidence and it raises self esteem within yourself. When you look good, you feel good as well.”

At Misiluki Day Spa, they offer a range of services from fofo, sports massages, all sorts of spa treatment and body treatments.

If you want to visit Misiluki Day Spa, they open from Mon-Fri 9am – 7pm, Saturdays from 9am – 5pm and Sunday from 1pm – 7pm or contact them on 20759 or 7703434.
