The Samoa Victim Support Group (S.V.S.G.) honoured three groups of women within its support programmes on Thursday as part of global celebration of International Women’s Day.

First, they honoured women and girls as survivors of violence; second were the rehabilitated women champions of violence and thirdly, the volunteer women, who are the backbone of S.V.S.G’s support services.

At the Campus of Hope, the rehabilitated women champions of violence under the S.V.S.G’s Tina Faufautua programme, joined the children survivors of violence and the women volunteers, to share their stories.

The testimonies were very powerful. The rehabilitated women champions of violence saw for themselves the reality of the abuse suffered by the children from within their families, as evidence by the many children residence at the Campus.

Seeing is believing. The women saw for themselves the extent of S.V.S.G’s work which prompted their willingness to help out through a vegetable garden for the children.

To end the celebration, the volunteered mothers behind the Tina Faufautua programme were honoured for their hard work, their commitment and their contribution in rehabilitating women champions of violence.

Milo Cortz and Sister Schwenke were among the facilitators of the programme honoured.

One of S.V.S.G’s eldest village representatives, Fa’amomoi Taituuga, was visited in honour of her volunteer work for S.V.S.G.
