The N.U.S. Gym last Saturday was filled with parents and supporters for the final matches in the U15, Men’s and A Grade Women’s division.

All the matches lived up to the expectation of FINALS – fast, exciting, nail biting, competitive contesting and stretching one’s limits.

The U15 division was battled out between Hyundai and Vailele EKFS.  Both teams getting heaps of cheers from the crowd with every intercept and goal scored. Hyundai won the game 25-14.

The Men’s Championship game was between SCOPA and United Soulz.  The teams were aware of each other’s strengths and weakness, so it came down to composure and the team with the least errors would win the game.  SCOPA held their lead to win 43-31.

The P.F.L. Shield and Championship for the A Women’s Grade was between the two power houses – S.C.O.P.A. and Joe’s Gym St Marys Sport Club.  Every match played between these two clubs, nothing can be taken for granted, the level of passion is high, supporters are vocal and guaranteed the match will be played down to the wire.  And sure enough, this is what happened.  1st Quarter – 11-9 SMSC, 2nd Quarter 16-16, 3rd quarter 25-24 S.C.O.P.A. and final score 33-31 SMSC.

The P.F.L. National Netball League succeeded in being one of the drivers to strengthening Netball Samoa’s performance pathway, the development of talent and competitiveness of our local netball teams.

C.E.O. Netball Samoa commented that “Netball Samoa’s role of developing and managing national programmes for participation, coaches, umpires and officials, is aimed for Netball to continue to be the sport of first choice for young females, promoting opportunities for all to connect with the game and demonstrate Samoa’s dedication to helping develop the strength of the sport outside our borders, and a determination to see Netball Samoa national teams compete in major international tournaments.”

Netball Samoa aims to reach out to the cross-section of the community, both urban and rural, children and adults. Although played predominately by women and girls, men’s Netball is also growing in stature - making it a key contributor to the well-being of communities.
