Samoa Airways has assured that it has remedied the “first major disruption” to its flight schedule since its launch in November last year. 

The assurance was issued by the Airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Tupuivao Seiuli Tuala, in a statement issued yesterday where they blamed the disruption of flights on maintenance of its Boeing 737-800 aircraft in Auckland, New Zealand.

The maintenance meant the Airline chartered the Nauru Airlines Boeing 737-300 and Fiji Airways Airbus A330 aircraft to operate flights between Apia and Auckland and Apia and Sydney outside of their own respective schedules.

The maintenance works were completed on Monday night and the plane resumed its regular schedule yesterday with its flight out of Auckland touching down at Faleolo International Airport in the afternoon.

 “Safety is our paramount priority and we do apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused,” said Tupuivao.

 “We thank our passengers for their patience and understanding as we worked with them to rearrange their travel plans. We want to assure you that Samoa Airways is committed to continue to provide a safe and quality service to our passengers.”

During the maintenance, Samoa Airways assisted with alternative travel arrangements.  

 “We are grateful to our Pacific Island partners who came to our aid during this time”, said Tupuivao.

This was the first major disruption to Samoa Airways’ jet- operation since its launch last year.

But it’s now back to business as usual for Samoa’s airline, as it prepares to welcome in its first birthday with a host of special fares to its newest destination, Brisbane, next month.
