Four charged with murder plead not guilty

Four Lauli’i men who have been charged with murder in connection with the death of a man in the boot of a car early this year have pleaded not guilty.

Iopu Taimalie, Iapesa Elisara, Anzac Matavale and Feagaiga Touli pleaded not guilty when they appeared with their lawyers before His Honor, Chief Justice Patu Tiavasu’e Falefatu Sapolu, in the Supreme Court yesterday.

Their non guilty plea were entered through their lawyers during the criminal mention hearing. Counsels Leota Tima Le’avai represented Iopu Taimalie, Charlie Vaai acted for Iapesa Elisara, Afamasaga Michael So’onalole acted for Anzac Matavale, and Aumua Ming Leung Wai represented Feagaiga Touli. Lawyer Leone Su’a-Mailo of the Attorney General’s Office represented the prosecution.

The criminal trial hearing has been set with the matter returnable on February 25, 2019.
