Rose Ah Leong pleads guilty to negligent driving causing death

A 29-year-old woman accused over the death of a seven-year-old girl during a Faleula road incident appeared before District Court Judge, Talasa Atoa Saaga, yesterday.

Rose Hope Ah Leong pleaded guilty to one charge of negligent driving causing death.

The prosecutor was Senior Sergeant, Richard Ah Chong.

The Registrar asked the defendant whether she wanted a lawyer to represent her in Court.

She said no and that she was ready to enter a plea.

According to the police summary of facts, the incident occurred on 23 September 2018.

The accused was the driver of a vehicle Tucson number plate 27509 on West Coast Road and caused death to Loi Vaialofa female 7-years-old of Faleula.

Judge Talasa adjourned the matter until 29 October 2018 for sentencing.

“This is an opportunity for probation to provide a victim impact report as well as a pre-sentence report.”
