The Manu Sina 7s individual brilliance got them home against New Caledonia in their first match of the second day of the Oceania Sevens

But a lack of discipline from Samoa almost cost them in the 19-5 win.

Tiana Jones Travis opened the scoring with a fantastic long-range try, shrugging off multiple tacklers on the way.

But Filigaotaua Matia Leifi’s yellow card at the four minute mark for one of several Manu Sina high tackles gave New Caledonia a foothold.

They capitalised immediately with a try, and the score was 5-5 at halftime.

In the second half, Samoa struggled to find any attacking consistency.

Then playmaker Lomi Peniamina busted the game open midway through the second half.

Standing as first receiver at an attacking lineout, she ran an excellent line, cutting through the defence to score,

Another try was scored soon after, securing the result.

The Manu Sina 7s take on the Cook Islands in the 5th-6th playoff at around 7:13 pm local time.
