Give them some time

The Manu Samoa Sevens has had mixed results in the last two legs of the World Rugby Sevens Series. While they won the bowl in Wellington, they couldn’t quite repeat the feat in Sydney where they lost to Canada in the final. What do you think of our team’s performance? And is there any hope for the Manu Samoa Sevens? Vatapuia Maiava asked in today’s Street Talk and this is what people said:

I’m still a fan and I still like our boys in blue. What I really liked is the fact that even though they played for the bowl they still pushed and gave their all. On the other hand, they still have a lot of work to do. They need to work on their game plan and build their confidence.

That’s a good start but it will get better. The boys need to work on their fitness because they got tired very easily. I know a few of the boys still smoke and drink so they need to practice self control. The coach needs to learn how to be a bit stricter on the boys and to keep them focused on their goals because they are taking the name of Samoa with them. They also need to know that their strength comes from God and they need to rely on him more. Glory and praise to God.

The boys had a rough start but I’m confident that they will get better. They still make far too many mistakes. They need to work on their discipline because they give their all in the beginning of each game and then get too tired to perform the rest of the game. They are unfit and unfocused which is not needed in a tough game of Sevens. I think the coaching staff also have a lot of work to do.

They need to believe in themselves and play as a team. The way they were playing was as if they never practiced or trained together. Another thing they need to improve is their fitness because they get tired half way through their matches. I still don’t want to judge the new coach because he has a lot of potential so I think we should give them some time.

Sinamoga

Well the boys are doing ok so far. I’m glad they didn’t give up when they didn’t make it to the Cup finals and still pushed to get the bowl. They have the determination, strength and the heart of Samoans to do very well and this is just the beginning. I have faith in our boys and they will do great things as they progress.

I don’t know what to say about the boys. They were very disappointing during their pool game. I think the one thing they need to work on is their confidence against their opponent and their ability to read the opposing team. It’s about time they start evaluating their mistakes and ways to overcome them. The coach is doing ok but he needs to work a little harder to get through to our stubborn boys.
